Ministry of Sports is an important branch of the Government of India.  The Minister of which is Mr. Kiren Rijiju.  Kiren Rijiju is also the Minister of Minority Affairs with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.  As a Minister of State, the Ministry of Sports works for the development of sports played within the country and abroad.

Young Case and Sports Ministry was founded in Delhi in 1982 by the name of the game department. At the same time the Asian Games organization was also established. During the celebration of the International Youth Year, 1985, its name was changed to the youth affairs and sports department. Then this department was made the Ministry on May 27, 2000.
