Ministry of agriculture is an important ministry of the Government of India.  The task of this ministry is to promote farming and farmers in India and to make necessary laws and regulations and to make farming a world class level.  The Ministry of Agriculture not only takes care of farming but also the needs of the farmers.  So that not only the yields of crops grown in India can be increased, but the farmers can also be given necessary benefits from the government.

  This is divided into agriculture, cooperative and farmer welfare department in 27 sections. And its 5 affiliated and 22 subordinate offices. Those who are coordinated with state-level agencies and spread across the country with the aim of implementing central schemes in their respective areas. Apart from this, there are 2 public undertakings, 9 autonomous institutions, 10 national level institutions and an authorization. The purpose of the department is to increase the production and productivity of agricultural commodities to ensure food security to the country and to make agriculture a continuous and beneficial employment.

What is the work of the Ministry of Agriculture

Ministry of agriculture takes care of the needs of farmers in India and gives them the necessary direction.  And also helps them as necessary.

The Department of Agriculture trains farmers to grow good quality crops.  And also provides them the necessary seeds and resources.

The Department of Agriculture deals with new farming techniques.  So that both the farmers' time and money are saved.

The Department of Agriculture brings schemes to the farmers to promote animal husbandry and farming, so that the farmers can progress.

The Department of Agriculture also provides financial assistance to farmers when needed.

Minister of agriculture 

The Minister of Agriculture is Shri Narendra Singh Tomar.  Narendra Singh Tomar was born on 12 June 1957.  He is currently a member of the 17th Lok Sabha.  He is the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare as well as Minister of Rural Development and Minister of Food Processing Industries.  Narendra Singh Tomar was a member of the 16th Lok Sabha from the Bharatiya Janata Party from Gwalior from 2014 to 2019.  Then in the 2019 election, he changed his seat and contested from Morena and got elected.

Abhishek Singh Chauhan, Krishna Raj and Purushottambhai Rupala are the State Minister of Agriculture.
